iPad mini 1 won't detect charger
I am stuck again :O
iPad mini 1 won't charge, replaced the dock would only charge on one side. I have worked through the fake charging solution for the iPad mini. All filters, caps and resistors check out ok. I skipped the two mosfets to save time as I thought Tristar would be the most likely cause. Replaced more than once but now don't get any detect when charger is plugged in. I have checked the voltages and have all 5V up to the 2nd mosfet. On the topside I don't have the 5V and is missing the 5V from the top cap near the PMU. I also don't have the blue 5V. I have replaced a 2nd mosfet but still the same. Any pointers?
The second mosfet is enabled by Tristar so your problem is where you worked make sure the part number is proper and IC orientation, else you will have to reball the small IC on top of Tristar they might got melted balls when you worked near.
Look careful if all balls melted under Tristar or if not have short between balls the logic board is thick on old models give more heat around 340C full air 8mm nozzle and this still might be not enough.
If you would like to learn how Tristar works visit Datashit Files section i have PDF file for Tristar only it is not for Tristar 2 the newer version, anyway they have similar functions.
Do not wait that i feed you with the tea spoon, the site is full of info have patience searching and reading because this is the great way to learn from others.
